Help with Labtera
No account is needed to get help, and nothing on this page asks you to upload your notebook. If you write to us, send only what is needed to describe the problem.
Common questions
- Where is my notebook stored?
- Labtera keeps your notebook in its own folder on your computer: a single SQLite database, your attachments, and periodic backups. The exact path is shown in the application under Settings → Data.
- I did not receive a confirmation email
- Confirmation and reset links are short-lived and each can be used once. Request a new one from the application and use the most recent email — an older link will report itself as expired.
- My reset link says it has expired
- Request a fresh one from the application. If the newest link still fails, the address may have a pending change on it; contact support and we will look at the account without touching your notebook.
- Moving to a new computer
- Copy the notebook folder across, then sign in on the new machine. Licences count activations, so deactivate the old installation from Settings if you no longer use it.
- Backing up
- The application takes periodic snapshots into the same folder, and you can take one on demand. Because the notebook is an ordinary file, any backup tool you already trust will also work.
- Recovering a deleted experiment
- Deleted records go to Trash and can be restored from there. Beyond that, restore from a backup snapshot.
